The company was formed in 1929 with the merger of Vereinigte DEUTA (Deutsche Tachometer-Werke GmbH) and OTA Apparate GmbH (Offenbacher Tachometer-Werke). Despite the company’s dynamic history, the VDO brand has not lost any of its charm – and for good reason. After all, it is difficult to find another brand to match VDO in standing for innovation and quality based on German engineering skills.

Continental develops pioneering technologies and services for sustainable and connected mobility of people and their goods. Founded in 1871, the technology company offers safe, efficient, intelligent and affordable solutions for vehicles, machines, traffic and transport. Information management and Intelligent Transportation Systems are at the very heart of the Vehicle Networking and Information (VNI)  division. The wide range of products for various vehicle categories includes instruments, multifunction displays and head-up displays, control devices, vehicle access and tire information systems, radios, infotainment and operating systems, climate control units, telematics solutions and services, software and cockpits. All this for a variety of vehicles. The VNI division employs more than 47,000 people worldwide and generated sales of €9.7 billion in 2018. Within VNI, the Commercial Vehicles and Services (CVS) Business Unit accommodates the specific requirements of the commercial vehicle, special vehicle and aftermarket sector. A global network of sales and service companies ensures proximity to local customers.

Covering the Continental, VDO, ATE, GALFER and Barum product brands, the business unit offers electronic products, systems and services for commercial and special vehicles, a broad selection of products for specialized workshops and spare parts for the independent aftermarket and the original equipment services after production of the vehicle manufacturer.
